Verifica sito in Google Webmaster Tools

Inspiegabilmente Google Webmaster Tools non mi accetta il file HTML che ho caricato (e fino a qualche giorno fa me lo accettava), così sono costretto ad inserire il metatag di riconoscimento.
C'è scritto:
Copy the meta tag listed below and paste it in your site's home page in the first <head> section of the page, before the first <body> section
Ma come faccio? dove lo inserisco e come?:?
