On December 9th 2006 Cristi is diagnosed with ACUTE LYMPHOBLASTIC LEUKEMIA and is urgently hospitalized at the ?Coltea? Hospital in Bucharest. The leukocytes level oversteps 200.000, the maximum level tolerated by the human body being 10.200. She immediately starts the cytostatics therapy and inevitably blood transfusions.

Ruthless, reality strikes: she finds out about the bone marrow transplant option. Everything seems hopeless when the doctors tell her about the costs involved in this situation: between 70.000 Euro (if someone in the family can be considered a donor) and 130.000 Euro (if the donor would come from a donors? database). The final cost is directly influenced by factors like: the clinic in which the surgery will take place (Romania or abroad), pre-preparation, post-preparation, hospitalization, necessary drugs, bone marrow quantity needed.

In the near future Cristi will have to go abroad for a series of investigations to help the doctors make a decision regarding the bone marrow transplant.
