I Queen

La band britannica è stata per una ventina d'anni sulla cresta dell'onda rappresentando lo stile musicale che viene definito Glam Rock.
Possiamo vedere i quattro componenti tutti truccati con addosso vestiti particolarmente "attillati" in canzoni come Bohemian Rhapsody, Killer Queen, Liar e tante altre.
Passando il tempo anche loro cambiano, qualcuno si taglia i capelli, uno in particolare indossa giacche che diventano il simbolo dei concerti.
Stiamo parlando di Brian May (chitarrista), John Deacon (bassista), Roger Taylor (batterista) e infine il grandissimo Freddie Mercury che nelle sue esibizioni non smette di commuovere il pubblico.
Personalmente adoro tutto dei Queen, mi piacciono tutte le loro canzoni, partendo dal ritmo, passando al ritornello e finendo col significato profondo di canzoni come Innuendo e Bohemian Rhapsody.
Sinceramente non capisco come la rivista Rolling Stones non li abbia affatto considerati tra i maggiori artisti nel mondo (:o), mettendo nomi addirittura semi-sconosciuti..
Freddie Mercury era famoso per la sua fantastica voce, infatti riusciva a raggiungere tre ottave (per chi non sapesse cosa sono le ottave, il fatto di raggiungerne tre con la voce non è affatto uno scherzo).
I live dei Queen hanno sempre riscosso grandissimo successo e sono parte della storia del rock, basti pensare al Live at Wembley Stadium, al Live at Montreal o alla straordinaria esibizione durata 20 minuti al Live Aid (esibizione alla quale hanno partecipato i più importanti artisti dell'epoca per condurre una lotta contro la povertà in Africa).
Mozzafiato le esibizioni con la bravissima Montserrat Caballé, in cui Freddie abbandona le vesti da rocker per indossare un elegantissimo smocking cantando canzoni come Barcelona.
Alla morte di Freddie, il bassista John Deacon decide di ritirarsi dopo il live fatto in onore del cantante, lasciando Brian May e Roger Taylor come gli unici membri rimasti dei Queen.
Gli ultimi due componenti formano con Paul Rodgers i Queen + Paul Rodgers, riproponendo alcune canzoni del repertorio dei Queen ed aggiungendone di nuove.
Per mantere vivo il nome dei Queen, oltre a varie esibizioni live, Brian May ha pensato bene di dare inizio al musical We Will Rock You (omonimo della famosa canzone).

Personalmente le mie canzoni preferite sono (non in ordine di importanza): Innuendo, Bohemian Rhapsody, I Want It All, I Want To Break Free, Headlong, Don't Stop Me Now, Who Wants To Live Forever, The Show Must Go On, Another One Bites The Dust, Too Much Love Will Kill You, Princes Of The Universe, A Kind Of Magic, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, Radio Gaga, Killer Queen e tante tante altre...

Da parte mia, posso solo dire che sono un bellissimo spaccato della mia adolescenza, e rimarranno per sempre vivi.
Mi viene solo un termine per definirli: grandi.
Basti pensare che conservo ancora tutti i ritagli di giornale che parlano della morte di Freddie, e tutte le riviste che hanno fatto degli special subito dopo.
Devo anche confessare, però, che di quello che è accaduto dopo ho seguito poco o niente le vicende, per me i Queen sono finiti con la morte di Mercury e quello che è venuto dopo mi interessava poco.
Per i pezzi preferiti, beh ce ne sono moltissimi, e trovo anche difficile elencarli tutti.
Quelli che adesso mi sovvengono su due piedi sono we are the champions, friend will be friend, who wants to live forever, e ......
